The Rocky Mountain States Section of
the Air & Waste Management Association hosted a one-day conference on
November 17, 2009 focusing on air quality issues in the Rocky Mountain
region. Approximately 125 people attended the conference. The conference
included presentations and discussions from state and federal government
representatives, researchers, industry experts, and environmental
organization professionals. Presentations and discussions covered aspects of
air quality management primarily of interest in the Rocky Mountain
region, especially in the following areas:
• Energy development and air quality
• Ambient air quality
monitoring (equipment and networks)
• Visibility/regional haze
issues
• Emission source
characterizations
• Implementing the new
national ambient air quality standards
• Climate change related
activities
• New and innovative
regulatory approaches to protect air quality
