Region Sustainability Initiative” Thursday, March 18, 2010 at
11:30 am Margaret McRoberts,
Sustainability Coordinator for the NPS, and Tom Keohan,
Historical Architect for the NPS, will present an overview of the
Intermountain Region Sustainability Initiative. This program is designed to
promote environmental practices in parks and other areas afforded protection
by the NPS to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) releases potentially contributing
to climate change and to insure long-term sustainability. The presentation
will also discuss the preservation and use of historic buildings as an
alternative to their destruction and replacement as a specific example of
implementing sustainability. Margaret McRoberts
has recent international experience with sustainability programs gained
through internship duties associated with the Master's program for Strategic
Leadership towards Sustainability from the Blekings
Institute of Technology in Directions to the National Park
